Hi friends!
My hubby and I have been working non-stop lately and decided we needed a little break last weekend over Cinco de Mayo. We didn’t want to travel too far so we decided to have a nice little “staycation” in our city, The Woodlands, Texas. Our 10 year wedding anniversary is next month so we wanted to do something nice! Kent’s parents offered to keep Brinkley, our three year old, for a night. We decided to have an all-adults night on Friday and pick up Brinkley on Saturday to stay with us the second night.
You know how it is when you’re home…you feel like you need to be doing something. Laundry, dishes, adult stuff. A getaway was much needed!

I recently attended a blogger conference and it was hosted at the Westin on the Waterway. The hotel is so beautiful and I knew my artistic husband would appreciate the architecture and design.
We arrived on Friday evening and checked into our room. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the Westin had set up our room with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in celebration of our anniversary! So thoughtful! And yum! We ate every single treat!
We enjoyed snacks and drinks at the pool area bar called SIDEBAR. The weather was perfect! It was nice to sit down and have adult conversation, although we missed Brinkley and only mentioned her a million times. Typical, right? Children are such a joy.
The Westin has a 24 hour fitness center, which we scoped out. We got in our workouts early last week so we could enjoy our weekend but it was nice to know it was there just in case. They also lend you fitness gear in case you come unprepared, which I thought was really cool.

After snacks we met our friends Lindsey and John out for dinner nearby. We had a great time!
The next morning Kent and I had breakfast in the hotel restaurant, CURRENT. We had egg white omelets and pancakes. So delicious! I loved the design of the restaurant and I felt so relaxed while we enjoyed breakfast. Then we picked up our little sweetie, Brinkley. She was so excited to see us! We took her to visit the Disney store, which she loves, and then to lunch.

Later on that evening, we went back to the Westin and let Brinkley play in the splash pad downstairs by the Waterway. There was a band playing and people were out enjoying the weather. It was truly a wonderful and memorable weekend for the Byers family.
I appreciate the Westin team making our anniversary stay so special. We look forward to our next staycation! If you are planning a getaway yourself, definitely check them out.
Love, Kelsey
