It’s been a bit since I have done a video update about our journey to being debt-free. Thank you so much for following!
I am tracking our monthly pay-off progress on my Instagram Debt Free Fit Mom. I hope you’ll join me there!
It’s been a real eye opener to actually track my monthly progress, as in the full dollar amount. That’s something I’ve never really done before. It makes me feel really accomplished. Also, it has helped putting my journey out there on Instagram to connect with others doing the same thing. It’s fun to be “weird” together. Trust me, I know this is not a normal lifestyle but I am fighting to make it one.
We were not just put on this earth to pay bills and die.
Saturday was our 11-year wedding anniversary and although it would have been fun to take a trip, we kept our blinders on and made a debt payment. There are so many things that can distract us from our goals.
A few weeks ago, my sister invited us to go on a cruise for next summer. The trip is during a peak month (more expensive) and although it sounds fun and is very tempting, that trip will cost us $430 a month from now until next summer. That’s like a car payment. Crazy when you look at it like that! I am not saying we won’t go, but we will make sure we have the cash and have no consumer debt before booking that trip. It’s just another thing to motivate me to push for the debt-free life I want (and deserve). I share that with you to encourage you because there will be temptations and distractions that come up. I understand that memories are priceless but you should not have to stress out or go into debt for memories. You can make great memories for free in your backyard until you get your finances in order.
Something else that was a big blessing for us this summer…. Kent’s parents bought Brinkley a water slide for the backyard. Are you kidding?! Hours and hours of entertainment. Even if we had bought it, it would have still been cheaper than taking multiple trips this summer (hotel, gas, entertainment, food, etc). So that was a huge blessing and such a great idea if you have kiddos. I can even sit in the little pool and cool off. (It’s HOT in Texas). That’s another blog post!
Okay, y’all. That’s all for now! Have a wonderful week and I would love to hear from you and where you are on your debt-free journey!
